About Kazakhstan

Located in Central Asia, Kazakhstan is a transcontinental country bordered by China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. Following the end of the Soviet Union in 1991, Kazakhstan was the last Soviet republic to become an independent nation. Since then, its economy has been largely supported by a strong hydrocarbon industry and a stable political environment presided over by its one and only president, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Where Do You Earn a Business Degree in Kazakhstan?

Students can earn a bachelor's degree in business at a university or college in Kazakhstan. Specialized branches of higher education provide students the chance to earn a "Specialist's Diploma" while pedagogical-scientific higher education leads to master's degrees in science, medical or technical fields. Business degrees typically remain at the bachelor level of completion. Postgraduate degrees are considered "Candidate of Sciences" degrees and are reserved for students wishing to do research or teach at the university level.

Kazakhstan has over 150 colleges, universities and other higher education institution operating throughout the country. The highest concentration of universities are found in its capital, Almaty, which include Kazakhstan's National University and the Kazakh-American University. the first in the country to offer bachelor's and master's degrees in adherence ot the American education model. Additionally, all classes at the Kazkh-American University are taught in English.

How Long is the Academic Year in Kazakhstan?

Higher education classes run from September 1 (officially recognized as the "Day of Knowledge") to June, with winter and spring breaks as well as time off for holidays. Since Kazakhstan is home to multiple ethnicities, languages of instruction are not relegated to Russian and Kazakh. They also include English, Chinese, German, Arabic and French.
